Why?

A group of concerned Texans began to meet together to discuss the problems facing our state parks. As we looked at the decay of infrastructure, dilapidation of buildings and lack of funding, we realized Texas was about to loose many of our state parks, our historical sites and valued parks staff! How could we have allowed this to happen?

As we looked further, we realized that the state legislature had capped the sporting goods tax that was originally dedicated to our Parks and Wildlife department allowing our parks to flounder.

Solutions

Privatization of some of our parks, land sales and making a static display out of the Texas State Railroad have already begun! Unfortunately, these are solutions made in desperation and without thought to the future of our children and to the preservation of Texas pride.

Proper funding and attention to our parks is the only long term solution. Contact your legislators and friends today!

Leadership

Michael Banks, DDS and Mary C Decker, who were instrumental in the Neches River Project have agreed to spearhead this effort.  They're organization was key in creation of the Neches River National Wildlife Refuge. They understand first hand the importance of saving our heritage and unique natural resources for the future. They also have in their "backyard" the Texas State Railroad, one of the most incredible pieces of history in our country that is about to close as we know it forever unless emergency funding is put in place. Many others from around the state have joined this effort. We look forward to you coming aboard!

Michael Banks, President;  Mary C Decker, Vice-President;  Terri Gonzales, Secretary; Rose Mary Banks, CPA, Treasurer; Bob (Nathan) Crossman, Corresponding Secretary; Lee Miller, Web Administration
